Merry Joy Ethiopia has announced a 5-kilometer running event on April 06, 2025, expected to draw 12,000 to 15,000 participants. The event, themed 'I Care for the Elderly, I Protect My Health,' will start at Urael and end at Wello Sefer. T-shirts are available for purchase at various locations, with plans to expand the event to Arbaminch and Hawassa. The organization also addressed the challenges posed by USAID's withdrawal, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and mutual support.

Merry Joy Announces 15,000-Participant Running Event on April 06
Merry Joy Ethiopia, under the slogan 'I Care for the Elderly, I Protect My Health,' has announced a 5-kilometer running event in collaboration with Bright Advert and Event. The race, scheduled for April 06, 2025, is expected to attract between 12,000 and 15,000 participants. The starting point will be Urael, and the finish line will be at Wello Sefer.
T-shirts for the event are being sold at Dashen Bank and Telebir locations, as well as at Merry Joy centers in Asko, Megenagna, and Gadem Sefer. The t-shirts cost 300 birr for children and 500 birr for adults.
In addition to Addis Ababa, the running event will also be held in Arbaminch and Hawassa in the future.
Sister Zebider Zewdie, the founder of Merry Joy Ethiopia, spoke to Bsrat Radio about the impact of USAID's decision to halt its operations, which has led to the suspension of numerous projects and left over 100 employees without jobs. She emphasized that the decision has encouraged them to focus more on mutual support and collaboration.
