Emperor Haile Selassie's Letter to Princess Tenagnework: A Father's Love and Guidance, 1949
A letter written by Emperor Haile Selassie I to his daughter, Princess Tenagnework Haile Selassie
To my beloved daughter, Princess Tenagnework Haile Selassie, I hope you are well. We, by the grace of God, are in good health. Your letter, which you wrote after your studies and trip, has arrived. After further consultation with the doctor, I will write to you what he recommends, as you requested. I know you are deeply concerned about our rest, as you mentioned in your letter. If it were not for the exchange of what is visible to the eye, if Addis Ababa were not like Paris, seeing the happiness and work of people would remain a distant dream. If you have found any photographs that bring joy, please send them. Also, please send me one pair of pajamas, one piece of hair, and one piece of fabric, tailored to my size from the best available. May God quickly grant us what we have in mind...
