Agreement Signed to Produce Bic Cristal Pens Locally in Ethiopia
Alsam Plc has signed an agreement with Bic East Africa to produce Bic Cristal pens locally, aiming to boost technology transfer, foreign currency earnings, and job creation. The project is expected to launch within a year.

Bic Cristal pens, which have been in the Ethiopian market for many years, have been exclusively supplied and distributed by Alsam Plc for the past two decades.
Alsam had been importing the product from Haco Industries in Kenya for a long time. Recently, it has also been importing Bic Cristal pens from Bic East Africa Limited, a company that has been in operation for many years.
On Saturday, February 29, 2017 (Ethiopian calendar), Alsam Plc signed an agreement with Bic East Africa Limited to enable the local production of Bic Cristal pens. According to the agreement, Alsam Plc will not only produce the pens but will also distribute them to various East African countries, including Djibouti, Somalia, and Eritrea.
The local production of Bic Cristal pens in Ethiopia is expected to bring technological transfer, generate foreign currency, and create job opportunities for citizens. The project is anticipated to be operational within the next year, according to Bsrat Radio and Television.
