Addis Ababa Parks Generate Over 64 Million Birr in Seven Months
Addis Ababa's parks attracted 598,821 visitors in the past seven months, earning over 64 million Birr. Entoto Park led in popularity, with plans to enhance facilities and boost revenue through private sector collaboration.

The Addis Ababa City Administration's Public Recreation Sites Management Corporation has announced that the city earned over 64 million Birr from tourists visiting its parks in the past seven months.
Deputy CEO of the Corporation, Mr. Wallelign Desalegn, told Bsrat Radio and Television that 598,821 tourists visited Addis Ababa's major parks during this period.
He explained that the Corporation aimed to achieve better revenue compared to the same period last year and successfully recorded a strong performance. The Deputy Director noted that revenue of 64,222,515 Birr was generated during this time, achieving 88% of the target.
Entoto Park remains the most visited by both domestic and international tourists, followed by other popular parks such as Bole Peacock, Ethio Cuba, and other recreational sites.
Mr. Wallelign also mentioned that the Corporation has taken over 12 additional parks from the City Development Bureau, along with 33 sites under corridor development, which have contributed to the increase in visitor numbers.
He highlighted that parks located in residential areas, equipped with various service and recreational facilities, have become more attractive to visitors. In the future, the Corporation plans to collaborate with the private sector to further enhance these parks, attract more visitors, and increase revenue.
