Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET-302, which was en route from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Kenya, on March 10, 2019, crashed minutes after takeoff, claiming the lives of all passengers on board.

A memorial ceremony was held to unveil a monument in honor of the victims, attended by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Dr. Alemu Sime, family members of the victims, ambassadors, various guests, and local residents.

Dr. Alemu Sime, speaking at the event, stated that while the plane crash remains an unforgettable tragedy and a deep sorrow in our hearts, it has also taught us to work with determination to ensure aviation safety.

The Minister noted that significant steps have been taken since the accident to enhance global aviation safety, improve aircraft design, and strengthen regulatory oversight.

Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that the accident has reinforced the importance of prioritizing safety in all operations.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics highlighted that the crash served as a lesson to prioritize safety in all endeavors.

The local community was also thanked for their contributions from the time of the accident until the completion of the memorial monument.
