Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced that Ethiopia has progressed from producing ammunition domestically to developing the capacity to export it.
During his visit to the Homicho Ammunition Factory, the Prime Minister emphasized that Ethiopia, as a great nation, must strengthen its self-reliance journey and ensure a seamless generational transition.
He noted that while Ethiopia had previously attempted to produce ammunition domestically, until three years ago, it still relied on imports. Now, Ethiopia has developed the capacity not only to produce ammunition locally but also to export it.
This step, he highlighted, is a significant achievement in ensuring a fully equipped and well-trained national defense force.
Beyond defense needs, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of achieving self-sufficiency in food, medicine, and clothing production to build genuine self-reliance.
