Egyptian Foreign Minister Visits Eritrea for Bilateral and Regional Talks

President Isaias Afwerki yesterday received and held discussions with a delegation led by Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty.
The Eritrean Minister of Information, Yemane Gebremeskel, stated that the two countries held extensive discussions, focusing on issues of mutual interest, including bilateral, regional, and continental matters related to the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
Among the key topics discussed were the ongoing efforts in Somalia's state-building process and the peace and security challenges in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea regions. These issues were thoroughly deliberated by Eritrean and Egyptian officials, according to Dagu Journal.
In a brief statement to the Eritrean News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty explained that the regular consultations aim to establish common positions on issues of regional stability and security.
In recent times, there has been frequent exchange of visits between Eritrean and Egyptian leaders, including trips from Asmara to Cairo. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and several high-ranking officials have also visited Eritrea.
Since Ethiopia's involvement in the maritime port agreement dispute with Somalia, Egypt has increased its engagement in East Africa, closely monitoring developments in the region.
