Somaliland Police Begin Crackdown on Illegal Ethiopian Migrants
Somaliland police have launched a campaign to deport illegal Ethiopian migrants, following similar actions by Puntland. The move comes amid security concerns over foreign involvement with ISIS-linked groups in the region.

Somaliland Police Launch Campaign to Deport Illegal Ethiopian Migrants
On Sunday morning, police vehicles were seen patrolling areas around Hargeisa Market, arresting Ethiopians residing illegally in the region.
While many Ethiopians in Somaliland possess refugee cards, visas, or work permits, a significant number enter the country illegally each year.
Somaliland officials have not yet publicly commented on the newly launched operation.
The Somaliland police began this deportation campaign shortly after Puntland authorities expelled over 1,000 Ethiopian citizens from the cities of Garowe and Bosaso a few weeks ago.
The Puntland government cited security concerns, pointing to reports that some foreigners have joined the ISIS-affiliated group operating in the Al-Miskat Mountains, as the reason for intensifying its crackdown on illegal migrants.
