African Young Leaders International Diplomacy Conference (EYDPA) Kicks Off

The conference, officially launched on February 24, 2025, was attended by the Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Dr. Ergoge Tsefaye, former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, and Pan-Africanism advocate Professor Patrick Lumumba.

The conference was organized by the Federal Ministry of Women and Social Affairs in collaboration with the Ethiopian Youth Dialogue for Peace Association (EYDPA) and other stakeholders. During the opening ceremony, Minister Dr. Ergoge Tsefaye stated, "To realize a prosperous and united Africa, young people must harness their potential and work with determination." She added, "By empowering young leaders and ensuring their inclusive participation, we must elevate the continent to a higher level."

Former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn emphasized the importance of building a strong economy, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable development. He urged young people to develop problem-solving skills through dialogue and play a crucial role in peacebuilding processes.

Professor Patrick Lumumba, a prominent Pan-Africanist, also participated in the event, stating, "The future of Africa depends on the youth of today." Engineer Chala Asefa, Director of the Ethiopian Youth Dialogue for Peace Association, explained that the conference aims to facilitate extensive discussions on leadership, diplomacy, international relations, and innovation. He noted that the platform creates opportunities for African youth to amplify their voices, perspectives, and aspirations.

The conference, which will last for two days, features over 300 young leaders from various African countries, universities, and civil society organizations.
