Ethiopia Launches E-Passport to Enhance Service Quality and Transparency
Ethiopia has introduced an e-passport, developed using modern technology, to provide citizens with secure, efficient, and transparent services. President Sahle-Work Zewde emphasized its role in combating forgery and facilitating trade and employment opportunities.

President Sahle-Work Zewde stated that the e-passport, developed in Ethiopia using modern technology and officially launched today, will help provide quality and transparent services to citizens.
During the launch of the new e-passport, President Sahle-Work explained that ensuring Ethiopian passports and travel documents are equipped with up-to-date and advanced security features is a significant achievement.
She emphasized that the implementation of the electronic passport not only enhances the country's image but also reflects the value provided to citizens.
The President highlighted that the e-passport will play an irreplaceable role in eliminating any form of forgery.
She further noted that modern documents are essential not only for facilitating people's mobility but also for expanding trade and creating legal employment opportunities.
Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) reported that the e-passport was produced domestically in collaboration with Ethiopia Investment Holdings and Topan Security Printing Ethiopia Share Company.
The event was attended by Federal President Sahle-Work Zewde, House of Peoples' Representatives Speaker Tagesse Chafo, House of Federation Speaker Agegnehu Teshager, Federal Supreme Court President Meaza Ashenafi, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinator of the Democratic System Building Center with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister Adam Farah, Immigration and Citizenship Service Director General Selamawit Dawit, and other high-ranking government officials.
