Fatal Traffic Accident in Sodo City Claims Two Lives, Injures Police Officer and Others

A traffic accident in Sodo city killed two people and injured several others, including a police officer. The truck, carrying tomatoes, hit a motorcycle and streetlight poles before stopping in a ditch. Two deaths, one severe injury, two minor injuries, and property damage were reported. The injured are receiving treatment.

Two people died instantly, and several others, including an on-duty police officer, sustained severe and minor injuries in the accident," stated the Wolaita Sodo City Police.

Yesterday evening, around 4:00 PM, a traffic accident occurred in Sodo city involving an Isuzu cargo truck with license plate number (3) - B311533 AA, which originated from Shashamane. The accident resulted in loss of life and property damage, according to Commander Habtamu Asefa, the head of Wolaita Sodo City Police, who spoke to Tikvahe Ethiopia.

As explained by the police commander, the vehicle, which was carrying agricultural products (fully loaded with tomatoes) from the Arsi area of the Oromia region, struck two individuals who were riding a motorcycle in the "Sidar Kera" area of Sodo city, killing them instantly.

Similarly, a police investigator who was on night duty was also called to the scene. While he was heading to the location on a motorcycle, the same vehicle collided with him, causing severe injuries, as reported by the police commander.

The driver of the vehicle hit four streetlight poles before coming to a stop in a ditch. Both the driver and his assistant sustained minor physical injuries.

The police investigator who suffered severe injuries is currently receiving treatment at Sodo Christian Hospital, while the driver and his assistant, who sustained minor injuries, are being treated at Ottona General Hospital, according to the city police commander.

Overall, the accident resulted in 2 deaths, 1 severe injury, 2 minor injuries, and damage to 7 properties, as reported by the authorities.
